Police: Two men steal copper from Lincoln business

A Lenoir man and a Hickory man are both charged in stealing copper from a Lincoln County business. One of the men is the owner of a mechanic shop in Granite Falls.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, H and H Distribution on Burris Boulevard in Lincolnton had been broken into and robbed on December 11. The suspects entered the building by prying open a side door to the business.

Around 740 feet of copper wire had been cut out of the building and a wire and space heater were taken. Damage to the business and property was valued at around $15,000. The next day, while conducting surveillance in the area, patrol deputies stopped Jesse James LeFevers, 26, of 3835 Holloman’s Place, Lenoir. LeFevers was identified as a suspect and charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny.

On Monday, a second suspect, Christopher Alan Townsend, 32, of 5225 Wolfe Road, Hickory, was arrested with felony breaking and entering and larceny. Townsend is the owner of a mechanic shop, Absolute Auto Diesel Performance in Granite Falls. Townsend was released from jail on a $10,000 secured bond. LeFevers was released on a $20,000 secured bond.
