A wreck on Christmas Eve morning left one person trapped in the vehicle. Both occupants were taken to the hospital with life threatening injuries.
According to Gastonia Fire Department, the wreck happened at1917 Davis Park Road in Gastonia, at 8:20 a.m. on Tuesday December 24. The truck was traveling at a high rate of speed down Davis Park Road when the drive lost control, struck a large tree stump on the side of the road and overturned twice. Two people were inside the truck at the time. One person was able to escape the wreck, but the other was trapped inside.
Firefighters removed the back seat of the vehicle using hydraulic rescue tools, and brought the entrapped patient out of the vehicle through the rear window of the wreckage. Both victims were transported to Caromont Regional Medical Center with life threatening injuries. Their names have not yet been released.
