SHELBY — Traffic was halted for more than 30 minutes on U.S. 74 on Monday morning after a driver of a car lost control and flipped the vehicle onto its top, according to Shelby Police.
Police said there were two adults in the car.
The extent of their injuries was not released Monday.
The car was heading out of Shelby near Roger’s Honda when the driver lost control and ended up flipping the vehicle, said Shelby Police Officer Chris Wilkinson.
The small gold car rested on its top on the side of the road, leaving behind a trail of debris and shattered glass.
A “do not enter” sign lay in the brown grass near a cracked side mirror, and deep tire tracks were cut in the earth.
Emergency responders worked to strap two people to backboards and load them into waiting ambulances while fire fighters and police directed traffic and scraped up metal and glass from the road.
