An 18-year-old high school student was charged after fighting and severely injuring another female student on Monday.
Emauria Naterrish Carothers, 18, of 340 Clay St., Belmont, was charged with assault inflicting serious injury.
According to police reports, the fight began in the South Point High School cafeteria. Police allege Carothers repeatedly struck a 17-year-old student on the head several times and grabbed her hair to bang her head on a table.
The female student suffered facial fractures, severe swelling on her face and a concussion. Arrest records also say the victim lost consciousness.
Carothers was jailed on a $10,000 secured bond.
