It may be the football off-season, but that didn’t stop a Panthers fan in Gaston County from scoring a big lottery win.
Paul Johnson, a steel fabricator from Dallas, won $10,000 instantly playing the $120 Million Cash game, according to North Carolina Education Lottery officials. After state and federal taxes he took home about $6,800.
Johnson purchased his lucky ticket at the Triple E Express & Grill on North Bessemer City Road in Gastonia. Johnson said he was shocked when he realized he won $10,000.
As he claimed his winnings at the lottery’s regional claim center in Charlotte, Johnson said he would use some of his prize money to pay bills and go to dinner to celebrate.
