If you look forward to filing your annual income taxes chances are you are due a refund from Uncle Sam. But almost from the second we affix a stamp to those returns – or more than likely hit send after e-filing – the question arises, “Where’s my refund?”
For several years now the Internal Revenue Service has helped countless people answer that question. You can find the answer to your “Where’s my refund?” question by clicking on the link found at the IRS.gov website.
But here are some things to know:
When to check?
- Within 24 hours after the IRS has received your e-filed tax return
- Four weeks after you mail your paper return
- “Where’s my refund” is updated once every 24 hours, usually overnight.
What you need
- Social Security number
- Filing status (married, single, etc….
- Exact refund amount
