The Kings Mountain Police Department responded to 504 Phenix St. on Saturday around 1 p.m. in reference to a well-being check at the home.
Officers arriving at the scene made contact with a man inside the house who refused to cooperate with the officers' attempt to check on the individual whose well-being was in question, according to a Kings Mountain Police news release.
Officers made emergency entry into the residence and detained the man. Further investigation of the house revealed a male deceased inside, according to the release.
The deceased man was Donald Howard Lovette, 68, of 504 Phenix St., according to the release.
Robert Henry Lovette, 38, also of 504 Phenix St., was taken to the Kings Mountain Police Department and charged with first-degree murder, according to the release.
Lovette is currently being held at Cleveland County Law Enforcement Center with no bond.
