A man fell asleep at the wheel and crashed into a mobile home Sunday morning west of Shelby, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
The crash, which happened about at 10:20 a.m. on Washburn Switch Road, left the mobile home damaged.
The driver, Joshua Auton, of Shelby, was taken to the hospital with cuts on his face and some bruises, Highway Patrol Trooper Sanders said.
Auton was charged with reckless driving, Sanders said.
“The car was traveling south on Washburn Switch Road,” Sanders said. “The driver fell asleep and ran off the left side of the road and struck the mobile home.”
Sanders said it was not immediately clear how much damage the home sustained.
