CaroMont Health welcomes Steven K. Gudeman, MD, to the staff of physicians that make up CaroMont Medical Group. Gudeman will practice at CaroMont Neurosurgery.
Gudeman is no stranger to CaroMont Health and the Gaston County community. He has been a member of the medical staff at CaroMont Regional Medical Center for 16 years and has practiced in Gaston County community for as long.

Gudeman received his bachelor’s degree in zoology and sociology at Indiana University, where he received the Herman B. Wells Senior Recognition Award. He earned his M.D. at the University of Cincinnati and was elected to the Alpha Omega Honor Medical Society. He completed his residency and Fellowship in Neurotraumatology at the Medical College of Virginia. Gudeman was professor and chief of neurosurgery at UNC Chapel Hill. He served as professor and chairman of neurosurgery at Eastern Virginia Medical School and was assistant and associate professor of neurosurgery at the Medical University of South Carolina.
Gudeman has held many other administrative and leadership positions including director of neurosurgical residency program and director of Pediatric and CNS Trauma Sections of the division. He served as the medical director of the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at UNC Chapel Hill.
