A fire at Webb Street School was brought under control in less than 30 minutes.

The blaze was called in at 5:39 a.m. Wednesday and was brought under control around 6, according to emergency workers. The school educates students with developmental disabilities, and the fire will not hurt those efforts today.

The fire began in a mobile unit used for storage at the school located at 1623 N. Webb St.

There was no damage to the school itself.

The trailer stored surplus desk, chairs and other equipment and furniture. The trailer was not a total loss, but the contents were deemed not salvageable.

The Gastonia Fire Department, Gastonia Police Department and the Gaston County Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the fire.

The Gazette's news partner WSOC contributed to this report.
