A man stopped on I-85 for traveling 102 mph now also faces a driving while impaired charge.
Highway Patrol Trooper E.J. Williams stopped Marcellus Demorris Hardin for traveling 102 mph on I-85 near the intersection with N.C. 273 in Mount Holly at 2:58 a.m. Saturday, according to a citation. That area has a speed limit of 60 mph.
After stopping Hardin the trooper stated he noticed a smell of alcohol on the suspect as well as signs of impairment.

Hardin was booked into Gaston County Jail under a $10,000 bond on charges of driving while impaired, speeding and driving while license revoked.
Hardin has other driving after drinking under age convictions and pending driving while license revoked charges.
