Habitat for Humanity broke ground on its 100th house Sunday.
The Community Foundation of Gaston County is sponsoring the project, with volunteer labor coming from the Gastonia Police Department, the Gaston County Sheriff’s Office and Gastonia Fire Departments.
The home site is at 505 N. Pryor St. in Gastonia’s Highland community. Pryor Street, known to Habitat fans as the “street of dreams,” was home to the local Habitat’s first-ever home in the county.
With help from city land donations, Habitat’s plan is to build 13 homes on Pryor Street.
