Two men face felony charges after police say they stole a woman’s dog.

The Gastonia woman discovered that her 5-month-old pitbull, Coffee, was missing on Aug. 11.

One of the two men accused of taking the dog knew the animal’s owner, according to arrest warratns.

According to the woman, the two men were given 24 hours to return her dog.

By the time the dog was returned, police had already been notified and warrants were taken out against Demaceo Raekwon Brice and Quashon Shaheim Brice.

Quashon Brice was arrested Aug. 17. According to arrest warrant affidavits, the 18-year-old admitted to committing the crime. The two men were driving down the road, spotted the dog and put the 60-pound puppy in the car with them, the affidavit states.

Quashon Brice was released on an unsecured bond.

Demaceo Brice was arrested on Saturday. He remained in jail Sunday on a $5,000 secured bond.

The 17-year-old was arrested four times in Gaston County in 2012. Those charges include assault on a female, larceny, breaking and entering and resisting a public officer.

Larceny of a dog is a felony charge.

According to Coffee’s owner, the animal had some scratches on her when she was returned but seems to be healing well.
