Want to be part of movie with horses?

Stolen Horse International, a local nonprofit organization that reunites stolen and missing horses with their owners, is holding an open casting call for The Idaho Project, a film to be shot in September in and around Shelby.

The casting call will be at the Cleveland County Chamber, 200 S. Lafayette St., Shelby, on Saturday.

People interested in acting parts can visit between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m., and those interested in crew postitions should come from 3 to 6 p.m. Maxann Crotts is the casting director and co-producer with Debi and Harold Metcalfe, founders of Stolen Horse International.

The Metcalfes started Stolen Horse International after their mare, Idaho, disappeared in 1997. Idaho was returned home after 51 weeks. Because of their experience, the Metcalfes decided to create an organization to help spread the word about stolen horses.

The film project will include eduational information for the horse industry, as well as heartwarming stories for horse lovers.

Casting is for males and females ages 18-65. There is one role each for a girl and a boy ages 8 to 12. Advanced riding skills are encouraged. Auditions will consist of an interview and an improvisation. No script provided. Bring a headshot and resume.

Wardrobe is needed for 19th century, old west, cowboy-type clothing. Take clothing information and pictures to the audition.

Male and female voiceovers are also needed; take a copy of your voiceover work.

Those interviewing for crew positions need to take a resume along with a DVD of work or links to work if  applying for DP/Cinematographer. Bring a resume for all other positions and a list of equipment.

There will be a few extra roles. The project has a limited budget, but there is pay for selected roles and crew.
