A woman was shot to death early Saturday, and police say they’ve caught the man responsible.

At 12:57 a.m. police responded to 208 Ramblewood Drive and found a woman lying in the parking lot of Parkside Villas with a gunshot wound, according to a Shelby Police news release.

Police have not released the name of the woman.

The woman was transported to Cleveland Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead, according to the release.

Steven Tyrell Morris, 20, was charged with possession of a firearm by felon, possession of a stolen firearm, and resist, obstruct and delay.

“He was involved with her death, but we are still investigating to determine what happened,” said Capt. Rick Stafford. “There are no other suspects.”

Morris was placed in the Cleveland County Detention Center with no bond.

“It’s still too early in the investigation to determine why she was shot,” Stafford said.

In the past, the Ramblewood area is one police have worked to clean up due to the high crime level.

This week, Chistopher O’Brian Moore, 18, was arrested at the same apartment complex for a June 5 home invasion. Moore was part of a group that who came into an apartment and took $1,700 from eight people, the Star reported on Friday.

“Right now, there aren’t many apartments down there that are occupied. There are a limited amount of residents living there,” Stafford said. “The few incidents we have had lately this month seem to be isolated.”
