Emergency workers repeatedly say to reserve 911 calls for true emergencies.
Needing change for a $20 bill does not fit that bill a Gastonia man discovered, according to arrest warrants.
Travis Dequan Sharp, 23, called 911 sometime before dawn on Wednesday stating he needed his money.
When Gastonia Police officers arrived at 312 N. Avon they reported there was no emergency.
“Upon our arrival he wanted to know if any officer could make change for a $20 because his girlfriend had taken some money from him and he needed change for the $20,” Officer J.B. LeFevers wrote on a warrant affidavit.
Officers charged Sharp, who lives at 602 N. Glenn St., with interfering with emergency communications. He was released on an unsecured bond.
