Housing development coming to Beaty Road

Rain has been keeping construction at bay at a soon-to-be residential subdivision in Gastonia, but I’m guessing that will change once the dirt dries out.

You may have noticed the construction equipment and land clearing around the 3500 block of Beaty Road. That’s a little more than a mile from W.A. Bess Elementary and about a half-mile from the Kendrick intersection. A reader let me know dirt was moving and wanted to know why.

Lennar Carolinas became the owners of 69.12 acres in May, according to property records. The new site backs up to Lennar’s Kinmere Farms subdivision. A Lennar representative at the Charlotte office told me that the building site would be an additional phase to the Kinmere subdivision.

Lennar has two phases planned, Kinmere Village and Kinmere Commons, said Gastonia civil engineer Jimmy Lineman. The village would have residential homes. The commons would have town homes. In all, the site plan includes 111 lots between the two phases.

The company is in the pre-construction phase now and received city approval to start on utilities work last week, Lineman said.
