A body was found off Interstate 85 near mile marker 63 in Kannapolis, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol.
A N.C. Highway Patrol trooper said they got a call about a deer carcass around 7:30 a.m. Saturday.
Around 12:30 p.m., a body was discovered off I-85 and the person had been hit by a vehicle.
Trooper said they are not sure when this occurred and don’t know the gender of the victim.
The Highway Patrol is looking for help if anyone saw or knows anything.
The southbound side of I-85 is shut down. The accident happened just before 1 p.m.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation stated the road was not expected to reopen until later Saturday afternoon.
NCDOT recommended motorists use the following detour route: Take Exit 68, US-29 Connector Southbound. Continue on US-29 Southbound to re-access I-85 Southbound and Exit 58.
